Adding Assets
Product: NEXTMEGABYTE (Greenitco ITAM) · Module: IT Asset Management (ITAM) · Audience: Administrator, Technician
NEXTMEGABYTE supports six methods for adding assets. You can combine them; for example, import existing assets from Excel and then keep endpoint data current with agents.

| Method | Best for | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Manual entry | A few assets, non-IT assets | Fill in the device form in the portal |
| 2. Excel bulk import | Migrating existing asset registers | Download the template, fill it in and upload it |
| 3. Endpoint agent (non-AD) | Organizations without Active Directory, or users who travel or rarely connect to the domain | Install a lightweight agent once on each Windows, macOS or Linux device; it reports hardware and software automatically |
| 4. Active Directory (AD) agent | Organizations with Active Directory | Install the agent on one domain machine; all domain-joined computers are discovered without installing an agent on each |
| 5. Network scanner (IP-based) | IoT and network devices (printers, cameras, routers) | Scans the network with protocols such as SSH, SNMP, Telnet and HTTP and records devices with basic information |
| 6. Azure AD / Microsoft Intune sync | Organizations using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Intune | Devices are synchronized from the Microsoft cloud |
Agent and scanner methods are part of auto-discovery (ITOM). Discovered data appears in Network Inventory and can be added to the device list automatically.
