Config Module Overview

Welcome! This part of the AMG User Manual covers the Config section, the place where administrators set up the basic information the rest of the system relies on. Think of it as laying the foundation: once your departments, locations, asset categories, tax and depreciation rules and suppliers are in place, everything else (assets, tickets, purchases and reports) works smoothly and consistently.

Available Modules

Here is a quick look at every module covered in this guide. Each one has its own section with step-by-step instructions, so feel free to jump straight to the one you need.

Table: Config modules at a glance

Module Description Section
Announcements Share news and notices with everyone, or only with certain departments, locations or people. 2
Categories Group your assets into types such as Laptops, Pen Drives or Software, and set rules such as EULAs and stock alerts for each group. 3
Departments Set up teams such as IT Support or HR so tickets reach the right people and assets and users stay organised. 4
Internal Places Record the exact spot inside a location (a floor, room or branch) so you always know where an asset is. 5
Locations Add your offices and sites one at a time, or all at once from an Excel file. 6
Manufacturers Keep a list of brands such as Dell, HP or Lenovo to organise your inventory and compare purchases by brand. 7
Custom Tax Set up the taxes you use (for example GST or CGST) so they can be applied to purchases, requests and other financial records. 8
Holidays Mark company holidays so SLA timers and task deadlines skip days when nobody is working. 9
Depreciations Decide over how many months your assets lose their value (for example 12, 24 or 36 months). 10
Models Set up specific asset models and link each one to its category, manufacturer, depreciation, fieldset and picture. 11
Procurement Account Types Keep the list of account types people choose from when recording procurement and financial details. 12
Projects Create projects with their number, owner, dates and notes so assets and purchases can be linked to them. Bulk import is available too. 13
Purchase Management Record purchases, attach invoices and other documents, list the items bought and import purchases in bulk. 14
Status Labels Create the labels (such as Ready to Deploy or Out for Repair) that describe what is currently happening with a device. 15
Supplier Management Keep all supplier details in one place: contacts, bank accounts, PAN, addresses, GSTIN and courier charges. 16
Custom Fields Create extra fields and group them into field sets, so forms capture the information you need. 17
Threshold Settings Switch low-stock threshold checks and alerts on or off, and choose who receives the alerts. 18
User Location Limits Choose which locations each administrator can see and work with. 19
Settings Set portal-wide options: site name and branding, alerts, two-factor sign-in, asset tags, barcodes, LDAP, notifications and outgoing email. 20

Quick Start Guides

New to Config? Setting things up in roughly this order will save you from going back and forth later, because many modules use data from the ones before them:

Set up your Departments first, so users are organised and tickets go to the right team.

Add your Locations, then your Internal Places, so you can record exactly where each asset is.

Add your Manufacturers so your asset catalogue stays accurate.

Enter your Holidays so SLA and task timers do not count non-working days.

Set up Custom Tax and Depreciations so the money side of procurement adds up correctly.

Create your Models and Status Labels before adding assets, so every asset uses the same names and statuses.

Set up Procurement Account Types, Suppliers and Projects before you record any purchases.

Use Purchase Management to record purchases, add invoices and items, and check your import history.

Finally, review Custom Fields, Threshold Settings, User Location Limits and Application Settings so the portal is configured the way your organisation needs before rollout.
